Scope / Purpose of Role:

A varied generalist role providing a professional and proactive HR advisory service for both the production and business support functions. The HR Advisor will provide a customer focussed service, providing specialist HR advice, as well as leading HR projects, contributing to strategy and implementing policy and process development.

Reports into: HR Business Partner

Direct Reports: N/A                                     

Key Stakeholders: HR Team, Payroll, Line Managers, Reception

Key Result Areas:

  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders. becoming a key trusted adviser
  • Provide HR specialist advice and guidance to managers and employees
  • Support managers with absence management
  • Responsible for effective and efficient management of employee relations cases in aligned area
  • Identify and assess any risks/costs to the business and manage these appropriately, escalating if required
  • Support and advise managers undertaking business change initiatives
  • Coach managers through processes, giving appropriate support and challenge, to ensure that they are best equipped to make appropriate decisions
  • Develop regular MI reports to furnish managers with information and allow for data informed decision-making
  • Prepare documentation in line with employment law, policies and best practice, e.g. complex outcome letters and employee communications
  • Lead on annual processes/compliance/ad-hoc activities and deliver on time and to agreed quality, e.g. bonus, audit
  • Any other duties as required

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Reduction in case management resolution time
  • Reduction in absence levels
  • Delivery of aligned projects or other activities on time and of agreed quality
  • Suggestion and Implementation of continuous Improvement Initiatives

Skilles & Experience:

Qualifications:

  • Associate CIPD membership or equivalent experience
  • Up to date knowledge of employment law
  • Evidence of CPD ensuring keeping abreast of issues and trends

Skills:

  • Sound knowledge of employment law and best practise
  • Ability to take full ownership of aligned business areas and tasks and operate autonomously
  • Ability to operate as a commercial advocate
  • Ability to find pragmatic solutions that are aligned to culture and take account of the departments perspective
  • Professional and credible while remaining approachable
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite
  • Advanced skills with Excel
  • Ability to pragmatically apply HR knowledge and skills towards promoting solutions to problems
  • Keen to develop in role and supportive of process improving and new ways of working
  • Ability to maintain confidence
  • Ability to work at pace and juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and work in a changing environment

Experience:

  • Experience of delivering an advisory service, e.g. supporting managers with people issues (Essential)
  • Experience of participating in and delivering on continuous improvement (Essential)
  • Experience of implementing HR systems desirable (HR and/or time and attendance) (Desirable)
  • HR experience in manufacturing (Desirable)
