About the department
abrdn’s Human Resources function is globally led by Tracey Hahn, our Chief People Officer (CPO) and has a vision that positions our Culture and Talent as a market differentiator. The HR function has a lead role to play in making our brand meaningful for colleagues. This encompasses creating the right culture, development opportunities, remuneration principles and organisational structures to attract, reward, retain, develop and successfully deploy a high-calibre, impactful, diverse and inclusive workforce.
About the role
Reporting to the CPO, the Head of HR is responsible for the building and leading a strategic and transformative HR agenda across their aligned business area. They role will work closely with all Heads of HR and the HR Director to ensure collaboration and coordination across all areas. They will be a trusted adviser to their aligned ELT member(s) and all members of their respective LT.
Creating strategic partnerships with ELT clients, establishing a licence to operate
Operating as part of the Business Executive and role model as senior HR contributor
Sponsor projects on behalf of CPO and represent abrdn externally where appropriate
Strategy & Planning: Working as an integral part of the vector/function Leadership Team(s) to lead the design and implementation of Strategy, aligning to abrdn strategic objectives
Strategic Capability Planning with CoEs: Implementing appropriate strategic capability planning (e.g. talent and resourcing strategies) to deliver the right people in the right place at the right time with the right skills. Ensure the breadth of the CoEs capabilities is leveraged
Change Management: Working with senior business leaders to proactively plan, advise and support the implementation of change, Driving improved business performance
Leadership: Forming strong and influential relationships between self, leaders and HR Function colleagues in order to deliver strategic value to abrdn.
Developing HR Function Capability: Coaching the business and HR Function community in the development of competence and professionalism within business areas and ensuring the business are clear on the outputs required from HR related activities
Enabling self-service and optimisation of HR Operating Model
Employee Engagement: Collaborating with the CoEs and the business to drive employee engagement initiatives and plans for retaining and winning top talent
Skills and Experience
Strong relationship skills and ability to build rapport with stakeholders
Awareness of what, and how, the wider business strategy can be supported by the HR Function
Thought Leadership
Strong stakeholder management with senior business leaders and ability to influence change
Extensive experience as a HR Leader, ideally in a matrixed global environment
Experienced coach, mentoring business stakeholders, BP and broader HR colleagues Demonstrated success in delivering results under tight deadlines
Global Acumen with sensitivity to diverse cultures and personality types
Track Record in driving changes through influencing and communication
Positive and driven mindset
Programme Management and execution driven
