We are delighted to be supporting our client, Stagfire Ecological Surveys, to recruit an experienced Environmental Clerk of Works/Environmental Advisor with an ecology and/or construction background.
Location: Scottish Highlands and Islands
Pay: £30k - £40k (depending on experience). Use of a company pool vehicle.
Contract: Permanent and full-time (part-time working will also be considered)
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

IS THIS YOU?
You will be responsible for overseeing compliance and monitoring of environmental management plans, conducting site inspections, advising on compliance with environmental regulations, and recommending measures to mitigate any adverse effects on biodiversity and habitats. You will act as a liaison between construction teams and environmental stakeholders, advocating for the protection and preservation of natural resources throughout the project lifecycle.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Every day is exciting and different. This is a varied role where you will be responsible for overseeing construction and development projects to ensure they are conducted in an environmentally and responsible manner whilst fulfilling associated planning conditions relating to the environment and will act as a liaison between construction teams and environmental stakeholders, advocating for the protection and preservation of natural resources throughout the project lifecycle. You’ll be happy using your own initiative and enjoy working alongside their awesome team.
You will be responsible for:
- Site inspections and monitoring.
- Environmental and legal compliance.
- Implementation of environmental management plans.
- Stakeholder communication and collaboration.
- Data collection and reporting.
- Assessing ecological risk.
- Training and education to project personnel on environmental best practices, regulations and mitigation methods.
- Implement emergency response plans for environment incidents or accidents.

Requirements
WHAT WE NEED
Essential:
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Right to work in the UK.
- A minimum of three years’ relevant experience.
- CSCS card.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of construction site staff.
- A willingness to travel and stay away from your home base through the week if the job location requires.
- An excellent understanding of the environmental issues and mitigation strategies associated with terrestrial construction activities.
- A solid understanding of the statutory duties and responsibilities that companies have towards the environment during construction activities.
- Excellent knowledge of environmental legislation and experience of applying best practice.
- Experience of delivering construction site environmental compliance reports.
- Environmental compliance auditing experience.
Desirable:
- Working towards full membership of CIEEM and/or AEECOW.
- Protected species licence holder.
- Survey experience in other ecological areas (e.g. ornithology, botany, mammals, bats).
- Carrying out work in peatland environments.
- Knowledge of working under biosecurity protocols.
- Display a diligent approach to data collection and Microsoft Office skills.
