Are you interested in making a difference in your local community? This role will involve working proactively with voluntary organisations, community groups and statutory partners to support the growth of volunteering, social enterprise and the local third sector.

Based in the community you will have a wide-ranging remit to support individuals and third sector organisations on a variety of topics such as:-

  • The creation of new groups
  • Volunteering
  • Assisting organisations to find funding
  • Supporting organisations to be well governed and managed
  • Helping organisations and community groups to be better connected and able to influence and contribute to public policy

These responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:-

  • Advice, guidance and support to establish new groups
  • Assistance with grant funding
  • Information and advice to voluntary committees, boards of Trustee Directors on matters such as structure, governance, management, planning, charitable and company status, compliance and policy
  • Increasing the capacity and sustainability of third sector organisations
  • Social enterprise support and advice
  • Promoting training opportunities delivered by HTSI and other relevant bodies

* This post is initially for a 12 month period with the option to extend subject to ongoing funding.

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience of working with customers in a service or member driven environment or demonstrate transferable experience and skills 
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with third sector, statutory and commercial organisations to find out what they need to prosper and impart how TSI can support them
  • Some knowledge of the strategic, social economic and political context for third sector organisations in Scotland in general and Lochaber/Highland specifically
  • Good analytical skills including the ability to research the needs of your locality
  • Some travel may be occasionally required - full driving licence with access to a car
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and manage own workload
  • Promotes diversity and equality of opportunity
  • Ability to work in partnership arrangements
  • Supports the value of the third sector as an integral component of strong and resilient local communities
  • Ability to support organisations on a journey of strategic growth and development to respond to the changing needs of our local communities
  • Ability to use technology to analyse and access information, disseminate knowledge and raise awareness
