An engineer can be described as a person who builds engines, machines or structures or a person qualified in a branch of engineering, especially as a professional, according to the Oxford English dictionary.
So you can add good, solid, traditional prefixes like mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, naval, maritime or aeronautical, automotive or petrochemical or textile.
Or you can use more modern ones: IT, software, computer, sound, biochemical, genetic, satellite, astronautical – and you will find all these professional engineering employers in Scotland with jobs in their fields with major world-class companies or smaller, right down to some incredible, innovative, new start ups, along with leading service providers who rank the engineering professions amongst their workforces.
