Fixed term 1 year

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical  Fellow (ST4+ Level) in Cardiology based solely at NHS Grampian department of Cardiology in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Aberdeen.

Candidates must have completed the equivalent of Core Medical Training and have full MRCP (UK), or an acceptable alternative. It is expected that the applicant will already have mid registrar level experience in acute Cardiology and established competencies including in Echocardiography.

This post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training but will have strong training content and support, which can be directed as much as possible to aid the Cardiology career progression of the successful candidate. This post would be suitable for those aiming to complete their experience in Cardiology in preparation for a CESR application.

Our department is recognised as friendly and supportive, scoring consistently highly in yearly registrar feedback, and it has an exemplary body of experienced and dedicated trainers, and in almost all areas of contemporary cardiovascular disease management.

There is Consultant and supporting expertise in:

· All General Cardiology areas, including clinics, in-patient ward and CCU care.

· The full breadth of Echocardiography, in association with Physiologist colleagues.

· Cardiac CT, Cardiac MRI, and Nuclear Cardiology.

· Coronary Angiography & PCI, with all contemporary techniques and TAVI.

· Advanced Electrophysiology and the full range of pacemaker therapies.

· Obstetric Cardiology, ICC and Adult Congenital Heart Disease.

After appropriate discussion and performance assessment, training in sub-specialty areas can be available for the successful candidate, but please note, this post is not a sub-specialty training fellowship and specific fields cannot be guaranteed on request.

This post will not involve any attachments to Acute Medicine or other medical areas.

The appointment is for one year initially but if wished for, and performance expectations are being met, there may be an opportunity to extend it to for a second.
