Job Description

To support the early years team in delivering a flexible, high quality and inclusive early learning and care service which meets the needs of young children and their families. Working collaboratively with parents, carers and other partners to promote the welfare and development of every child.

To provide a learning and development opportunity by placement in an early years setting and through completion of a SVQ3 in Social Services (Children and Young People).

Responsibilities

Under the direction and supervision of Early Years Practitioner, Senior Early Years Practitioner or the Nursery Manager, you may be required to undertake any of the following tasks. 

To observe and interact with children in order to support their learning and record and contribute to reporting on the individual child's progress in accordance with Council policy and procedures

To be involved in the delivery of an effective early years service.

Participate in all aspects of team work within the unit.

Keep abreast of early years local and national developments.

To be involved in all aspects of care which meet the needs of the individual child in accordance with the Council's duty of care.

To undertake a recognised qualification as part of the Modern Apprentice programme

The Individual

.Experience of working with children in either a voluntary or paid capacity

3 x Nat 5s or 3 x Standard Grades at 1-3 or 3 x Intermediate 2’s or Core Skills at SCQF level 5, to include English and Maths.

or

SVQ Level 2 Social Services Children & Young People/CCLD

or

NC Early Education and Childcare Group Award

Effective organisational skills.

Effective communications skills

Ability to complete work based training

Ability to remain calm.

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

Ability to be flexible.

Willingness to learn.

Ability to be actively involved with the children in all aspects of their early learning and childcare experience e.g. playing games

 

Temporary for 18 Months from August 2024

 

Post 1 – Buckie High ASG

Post 2 – Elgin Ac / Elgin High ASG

 

Closing Date: 31 May 2024

Starting Salary: £22657.70 (pro rata)

£12.02 per hour

35 hours per week (term time)
