Clinical Fellow

Medicine for the Elderly,

Perth Royal Infirmary/Community Hospitals

The post is for 12 months.

Applications are invited for two permanent Clinical Fellow posts to join the Medicine for the Elderly Teams Perth and Kinross, starting 7 Aug 2024 ending 5th Aug 2025

The Medicine for the Elderly service based at Perth Royal Infirmary is undergoing a period of change and innovation. At present the Medicine for the Elderly unit provides a comprehensive service to older in-patients in Perth Royal including an acute frailty team and frailty unit, acute MFE wards, orthogeriatric service and a 22 bedded rehab and assessment unit. Wider care to the older population of Perth and Kinross is delivered through a rapid assessment and falls service and movement disorder clinic; we provide MFE service to two 17 and 18 bedded community hospitals.

Medicine for the Elderly is Tayside’s largest employer of Clinical Fellows and Speciality Doctors, and our team have a reputation for providing opportunities and career development in this career grade. It is also the stepping stone to Speciality Doctor post for doctors without enough experience to apply for a Speciality Doctor post.

The post is ideal for doctors looking for time away from training or a non-training career, where development, training and opportunities provided by these posts have many positives. The candidate can work fulltime or part time. Weekend and evening working is available, as is out of hours. These are entirely optional.

Closing date 5th June, however, we are looking to offer this post at the earliest opportunity and would therefore encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible. Interviews will be held as when candidates apply.

You must be registered with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practice

Informal enquiries are welcomed by: Dr Neil Henderson, Neil.Henderson2@nhs.scot
