ANGUS HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE PARTNERSHIP

Specialist Doctor

PSYCHIATRY OF OLD AGE

POST 1: Full time substantive post

10 programmed activities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to appoint a Specialist Doctor in South Angus in the beautiful coastal area of Arbroath, Carnoustie and Monifieth. The post holder will be part of the South Angus Older People’s Community Mental Health Team which is well established and one of the first to be fully integrated with members of the team working in a case-management model.

Arbroath, the largest town in Angus is home to Arbroath Abbey where in 1320 the declaration of Arbroath was signed. It is a traditional seaside town with a picturesque harbour and is home to the famous Arbroath Smokie. You can follow the coastal path, along sandy beaches to Carnoustie which is world famous for its golf and has hosted the Open Championships eight times on its Championship links course. Monifieth also has two stunning golf courses, one of which is an Open qualifying course. It is a small town stepped in heritage which dates back to the 9th Century. Nearby are Crombie and Monikie country parks with scenic walking and cycling trails and a range of watersports at Monikie. It is also close to Dundee which is a vibrant University city, home to the new V&A museum and the associated waterfront development.

The postholder will be based at Bruce House, the CMHT base in Arbroath but will also have hot-desking available at Stracathro Hospital near Brechin.
