Barra Medical Practice

Practice Nurse

Band 5 £30,229 - £37,664 pro rata

Plus Distant Island Allowance £1,279 pro rata

22.3 Hours Per Week

The Isles of Barra and Vatersay are equally renowned for their shimmering beaches and turquoise waters as they are for their warm welcome and strong sense of identity and community. And it is in this unique, safe and idyllic location that a rare opportunity has arisen for a Practice Nurse to join our Barra nursing team.

We are looking for a highly motivated nurse with experience in working in general practice within a remote and rural environment to join our integrated nursing team and our wider multi disciplinary team in primary care.  You will work closely with our GPs, practice admin team, developing Advanced Nurse Practitioners, the integrated nursing team in Barra, and other Primary Care Specialist Clinicians, including our Primary Care Pharmacist and First Contact Physiotherapist.

This role will cover our new 2c Barra Medical Practice.  This role presents a great opportunity for a nurse who is seeking move to the island to improve their work-life balance, or a nurse based in the Western Isles who is looking for a new opportunity with daytime working arrangements..  The role will allow you to work to the top of your grade and support will be given to anyone looking to grow their nursing skills and develop their practice, providing the chance for a great sense of achievement.

The Isles of Barra and Vatersay within the Outer Hebrides have a vibrant community of approximately 1300 people. The Isles are a special place, offering enviable scenery and good leisure facilities; but also particularly popular with families looking to relocate to a safe place to raise their children, with excellent schools, low crime rates, and affordable housing.
