What to expect

Postmasters are at the heart of the Post Office business. They are independent business people who own and run the 11,500 Post Office branches across the UK. We invest time and energy into trusted and valued partnerships and build lasting relationships with our postmasters. As Head of Postmaster Communications, you will join us on our transformation journey and undertake a central role within the business, responsible for the design and implementation of our postmaster communications strategy.

Working strategically alongside senior stakeholders and as a member of the Retail Committee, you will contribute as a key decision maker to help develop relationships with postmasters. Using a multi-channel approach, you will engage with postmasters across various platforms, as well as in person. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape our communication with postmasters.

What we can do for you

Now, more than ever, we understand that attracting the right talent is pivotal in driving the positive change needed throughout our organisation. Beyond a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • 27.5 days annual leave that increases with tenure
  • Up to 18% on target bonus opportunity
  • Car allowance
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Income protection after 12 months service
  • Full support from our employee assistance programme and access to our employee benefits platform
  • Ever-evolving learning and development opportunities

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience in a senior Corporate Affairs or Internal Communications role. As a communications expert, you will have a good understanding of the Post Office, and ideally, a background working in a franchised organisation. In addition, you will:

  • Possess first-class communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence colleagues including senior stakeholders and postmasters
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects and effectively prioritise your workload in a fast-paced business
  • Strong business and commercial acumen
  • Be able to demonstrate resilience working within a complex franchise organisation, ideally with effective crisis management experience
  • Have a high degree of discretion when handling sensitive information
  • Previous experience working in government affairs would also be highly desirable.
