General Gas & Compliance Manager

Mears provide and manage 17,000 homes for local and central Government and are also responsible for keeping 750,000 social housing homes in the UK in good repair.

About the role:

The successful Gas & Compliance Manager will have responsibility for the property safety compliance programmes and corporate property repairs and maintenance / investment contract.

You will be responsible for the drive of effective management and delivery of Gas compliance and installation.

The direct gas work will be completed by a sub-contractor, but you will have responsible to ensure all the work that is completed, is to a high standard and compliant.

You will also be managing our small Inhouse commercial gas team.

Experience in mangaing sub-contractors is essential.

You will ensure we meet all statutory and mandatory compliance requirements and any associated client compliance related KPIs. In doing so, you will create a high performing culture and foster a professional and effective working relationship with our clients.

It will be key to develop and sustain relationships with key Clients and Stakeholders, ensuring a high quality of customer engagement and involvement.

Managing and monitoring the performance of our key Gas subcontractor in the delivery of all statutory and compliance related Gas programmes of work, fostering a culture of excellence in service delivery and collaboration.

Role Criteria:

  • You must hold a recognised Technical Compliance Qualification.
  • Have General Health & Safety, IOSH, CSCS, SMSTS.
  • Extensive experience in compliance across housing and corporate property within large-scale maintenance, testing and inspection programmes.
  • Extensive experience of Gas and current legislation and best practice, including health and safety management and methodologies.
  • Highly experienced with a strong understanding of contract/project management, particularly in relation to the management of subcontractors to drive continuous improvement and value for money.
  • Track record with required expert technical and professional knowledge in the delivery of maintenance contracts in a result driven environment.
  • Effectively manage, support, and resolve personnel issues.
  • Experience of effectively leading & managing a team of Compliance/Technical/Trades/Administrative staff.
  • Working productively in a pressurised environment, acting decisively when faced with urgent issues while consistently always maintaining a high level of service.
  • Having a genuine understanding of industry and service delivery to a full range of clients
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing excellent customer service outcomes within service delivery compliance programmes.
  • Extensive knowledge in compliance across Social Housing and Corporate Property within large-scale maintenance, testing and inspection programmes.
  • Extensive knowledge of Gas within the Social Housing and Corporate Property arena.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge internally & externally.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads to achieve targets.
  • Knowledge of varying forms of industry related forms of contract.
  • Ability to proactively manage and analyse data.
  • Management of complaints which are promptly resolved and dealt with appropriately.
  • Detailed and up-to-date knowledge of health and safety practices.
  • IT literate utilising Microsoft packages.
