In order to keep up with the continuing growth of our business, we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Raw Material Technologist to join our well established and dynamic technical team. This permanent position is well suited to an individual that is looking to advance their career in the food safety/quality and legality sector and gain hands-on experience in a thriving and supportive workplace.
The overall purpose of the role of our Raw Material Technologist is to manage all the site`s raw materials and suppliers from development stages to finished product including specifications, risk assessments, approvals, validations, investigations and monitoring activities
In this role your key responsibilities will include:
- Conduct and record thorough assessments of incoming raw materials, ensuring adherence to stringent quality standards and compliance requirements
- Support in raw material risk assessments, schedules, coordinate raw materials for lab sampling/submission as required and monitor results for trends
- Management of site raw material and packaging documentation / systems to ensure up to date and relevant at all times
- Audit raw material storage and handling procedures for safety
- Participate in external audits/visits, demonstrating systems and records
- Assist with raw material / packaging non-conformances and troubleshooting investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and sustainable preventative actions are implemented to remove the risk of reoccurrence
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements relevant to raw materials/packaging
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as NPD, Procurement and Technical to support opportunities for supplier optimization and innovation as well as with suppliers to foster robust and sustainable relationships
- Supporting and coaching all colleagues across the business in best practice for food safety, quality, legality and integrity related to raw materials and packaging
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Desired:
- A degree in Food Science, or a related field is desired
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and standards is required related to raw materials and packaging
Essential:
- The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in a similar role within the food manufacturing industry (FMCG), demonstrating understanding of raw materials, safety and quality control (GMPs, BRCGS, HACCP)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are crucial, enabling effective collaboration with suppliers, internal teams, and other stakeholders
- The successful candidate will possess the ability to analyse complex data, identify patterns, and make data-driven decisions to enhance product safety & quality via Microsoft Word/Excel/Power Point. Experience working with Power BI is advantageous
- Fast and accurate typing skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Being flexible to adapt to changes and consistently meet the requirements of the role
- Take ownership and accountability to achieve the required standards
- Positive demeanour and can do attitude
- Good time management to remain productive and organized meeting deadlines at all times
