Job Description
To provide effective and efficient clerical and word processing service for Legal and Democratic Services.
Requirements
Provide word processing/clerical assistance to the Legal and Democratic Services Officers and Elections Officer.
Provide cover for other Clerical/WPOs within the Service in the event of holidays/sickness absence.
Carry out specific departmental tasks as required by the Head of Governance Strategy and Performance.
Participate in the Council’s Employee Review and Development Programme
Responsibilities
Experience of working in a busy office environment using relevant technology and equipment e.g. photocopier, E-mail, Intra/Internet
Clerical/administration/typing experience
Experience in WP packages including WORD,Excel, Access and spreadsheets
4 SQA standard grades or equivalent at Level 3 or above, including including English, Mathematics/Arithmetic*
Advanced keyboard qualifications (RSA ii in typing, audio typing, word processing)/ECDL/Clait* (or equivalent working knowledge of Microsoft software packages)
Ability to use initiative when required
Flexible in approach and open to different ways of working
Self-confidence
Good oral/written communication
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to record information accurately
Self motivated
Strong customer care skills and focus
Ability to work on own and as part of a team
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office/ICT skills
General ICT skills
Good organisational skills/time management with the ability to respond to conflicting and competing demands
Ability to prioritise workload, in accordance with objectives and targets
Ability to relate well with all levels of staff
Willingness to accept direction/delegation
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work in a open plan office
Ability to work in different offices dependent on service requirements
Temporary – up to 12 months

36.25 hours per week
