Full & part-time hours considered - posts to be based within the Fort William area
The Paediatric Complex Care team is expanding due to an increase in children being referred to the service. This has meant we have various vacancies at present. The Complex Care Team support children and their families across NHS Highland in the home environment and wider community.
This is a very rewarding post to enable these children/families to be able to access education, allow parents to have a restful sleep overnight knowing their child is being cared for to a high standard. The post holder will be joining a team to support the children within the service. The post holder will accompany the child and/or family during school/nursery, hospital appointments/admissions, outings and respite etc during their shift.
Experience of working with Children and/or community care experience desirable, but not essential.
Training and support will be provided to achieve various tasks and skills with assessed competency. Training takes approximately 8 weeks. Following training and assessed competencies are achieved the post holder will lone work with the child/family with direct responsibility for the child’s healthcare needs. The post holder will work within a set of guidelines and protocols and under the remit of devised competency structures with support and assessment from the team leader.
The post holder is expected to be flexible and work a variety of day, evening, weekend and night shifts does include shifts and is a 24/7 service. The shifts at present are: 10pm-8am, 8am-6pm, 8am-4pm, 8am-2pm and 2pm-10pm. Shift patterns and times are driven by the requirements, and needs of the children within the service.
These posts are based within the Fort William area.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
