JOB TITLE: Product Owner – Insurance, Pensions and Investments
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh
HOURS: Full time (5 days, 35 hours)
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Edinburgh office location

The Product Owner role is one of several POs in IP&I Workplace Platform focussed on shaping and developing the roadmap for the Employer Lab who, in conjunction with our Architectures and Design specialists, Propositions & Operations partners as well as the IT Team to shape and develop the products to achieve maximum customer value.

The Employer Lab is responsible for facilitating pension admin for c20,000 pension schemes and c2.2M employee policies with assets in excess of £90bn, and we have ambitious growth targets.

Your accountabilities will include:

  • Own and develop a product backlog which contains a number of features, journeys, and technology components.
  • Deliver the release of incremental value within an overall product, with the primary aim of delivering value to customers and partners by ensuring the team focuses on the right priorities.
  • Shape the Product and roadmap, and prioritise the product backlog against customer and business value, working with the Team PO to break down features into stories.
  • Work with a team of Customer Journey Managers to understand how our journeys are being used by customers and prioritise delivering maximum value.
  • Reporting to the Lab Business Product Owner, you'll support the Workplace Platform focuses of Being a Scale Provider, Continually Re-Inventing for Customers, and Delivering Personalised Experiences for Customers.
  • Accountable for Product change governance (e.g., CMIA/SPFIA) and Business Readiness activities (e.g. training and comms, testing and readiness for implementation).

What we'll need from you:

  • Product Ownership - Ownership of a backlog supported by multiple teams. Deliver simple and complex product changes and responsible for its success/failure. Use experience to prioritise work and manage backlog efficiently and demonstrates a good level of domain knowledge.
  • Customer Centricity - A customer and culture first approach. Promote value of customer outcomes with team and peers and ensures work efforts achieve these. Anticipate customer’s needs and uses customer input and steer to present targeted, integrated, and outcome-focused solutions and opportunities.
  • Product Delivery - Lead improvements on product development process and delivery using new methodology, techniques, tools, etc. Shape the direction for cross-functional teams to deliver products in innovative delivery methods.
  • Leadership & Culture - Apply experience in cultural change initiatives to support various agendas in the Bank (e.g., feedback culture). Understand the main barriers to changing culture and the criticality of leadership buy-in.
  • Business Understanding: A knowledge of the Workplace Pensions business with the ability to understand the market position and how to make the trade offs required to prioritise the right value sequence.
