Post: Project Officer – People & Place Programme
Location: Orkney Islands – remote working / HITRANS office base may be considered
Salary: £31,151 – £32,903
Contract: Fixed Term to 31st March 2026 with expectation of extension
Working Hours: 35 Hours per week (Flexible); job share considered
The post-holder will deliver HITRANS and Orkney Islands Council’s work within a Behaviour Change programme, promoting modal shift from private car use to more walking, wheeling or cycling for local journeys. The role is funded through Orkney Islands Council and HITRANS People and Place programme, which is supported by the Scottish Government through the Active Travel Programme managed by Transport Scotland. This role will be line managed by HITRANS and embedded within and task managed by Orkney Islands Council.

The successful candidate will ideally be based in the Orkney Islands and a working base will be provided at one of Orkney Island Council’s premises. Hybrid working with part office and part home-based and remote working are also an option.
