We’re looking for a Depot Engineer based out of our Inverness site. Where we focus on providing a safe working environment where everyone plays a key part of the day-to-day operations.

What you’ll do:

  • Supporting the Service Centre Manager with daily planning activities (i.e., new hires/off hires/Serve Support etc).

  • Works closely with the depot team to ensure the equipment being prepared is to the required standards (as per SWI’s, Bulletins etc).

  • Coordinate’s depot activities to ensure the team are preparing the correct equipment/packages as required.

  • Supports with training and development of the depot team to ensure the correct skills requirements are met.

  • Provides expert knowledge and advice to the team to assist with trouble shooting and escalation of any technical queries.

  • Ability to use Field Service Management (Field Service Lightning) to support Team Leader with planning activities (Gantt chart/Hire Coordination Portal/Work Orders).

  • Carrying out regular quality checks on the activities carried out by the depot team to ensure they meet expected standards, e.g., PDI’s, Green carding, A&B Servicing, retrofit completion, Repair quality etc.

In addition to the above responsibilities, this position would be expected to carry out the following duties. It is expected that this will be approximately 40% of the daily activities.

Depot Activities

  • Conduct A & B servicing on power fleet as per standard work instructions.

  • Carry out new fleet acceptance testing.

  • Conduct control equipment replacement and parameter change.

  • Set up multi generator synchronising packages in the depot.

  • Carry out minor and major repair of all fleet.

  • Undertake pre delivery inspections.

Electrical

  • Basic electrical fault finding < 1500v dc and <1000v ac.

  • Carry out alternator configuration, load testing of fleet, low voltage switching, low voltage maintenance, low voltage isolation and main alternator maintenance.

Moisture Control

  • Repair dehumidifiers, electric heaters, oil-fired heaters & oil-fired boilers.

Administration

  • Maintain QHSE and legally required documentation.

  • Ensure tracking of equipment movements in and out of depot.

  • Complete all necessary reports on equipment.

  • To complete mobility reporting in real time.

  • Daily completion of time sheets using Handhelds.

  • Comply with Stock Control procedures to include supporting with stock and cable management.

You’ll have the following skills and experience:

  • You will have a mechanical and or Electrical background preferably with technical capabilities in power and ideally temperature control.

  • Educated to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an engineering/mechanical subject (can include apprenticeship)

  • Experience servicing, repairing large engines (generators, HGV, plant equipment, agricultural machinery)

  • Good organisational & communication skills

  • Good level of PC literacy including basic MS Office applications

  • Well organised and capable of keeping vehicle to GSCS standards

  • A solution focused mindset, able to identify issues, propose solutions, and think beyond your day-to-day remit

Salary ranging from £30,000 - £36,000 depending on experience.
