Description

You will secure and manage the grid connections and metering requirements required for the build out of Aggreko Energy Services (AES) new renewable and low carbon energy projects.

Detailed description

Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager you will be responsible for the grid connection and metering deliverables, across all project stages, of the AES portfolio of energy projects. Your role will begin with strategizing the identification of new connection opportunities, management of the application and acceptance phases, and then the construction and payment milestones. You will support procurement of Independent Connection Provider (ICP)/ Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services and oversee construction and commissioning phases. You will also manage connections to customer infrastructure for Behind the Meter solutions.

You will stay informed about grid trends, regulations and best practices and build a strong support network of colleagues and external experts.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement strategies to identify and secure new grid connections to support the development of AES energy projects.
  • Manage the grid application and acceptance process, and once accepted ensure stage payments and design/construction milestones are complied with. Manage grid code compliance, commissioning and testing of new energy assets.
  • Support EPC/ICP procurement activities and negotiations through the provision of minimum functional specifications relating to connection works. Support management of grid connection aspects of EPC/ICP works and Distribution Network Operator (DNO) / Transmission Network Operator (TNO) works throughout construction and commissioning phases.
  • Formulate and implement a method of electrical metering procurement utilising external resources as required. Ensure grid and metering compliance are progressed in tandem to avoid project delays.
  • Build a high-quality network of external grid connection consultants and DNO/TNO relationships.
  • Support Project Finance and M&A activity by undertaking detailed diligence on grid connections aspects of deal. 

Key performance indicators

  • Grid connections identified and secured to the requirements of the broader AES Development Team.
  • Accepted connections are managed in accordance with the terms of the agreement, including reporting requirements, payment and construction milestones
  • Grid connection and metering requirements delivered to programme
  • Successful commissioning events through effective design, monitoring and planning
  • Connections delivered to budget

Location: Remote based, must be willing to travel in UK (notably London) and European trips as required

What we’re looking for

  • Extensive experience of securing and managing grid connections for energy projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK grid and connection processes.
  • Grid connection experience across all project phases from initial design to commissioning.
  • Knowledge of metering requirements and meter asset management requirements.
  • A strong network of technology suppliers, expert consultants and DNO/TNO contacts.
