Resources Technician

This role will include the maintenance and storage of our equipment. You’ll work to make sure all young people at Outward Bound have the right equipment for their learning and adventure course, as well as helping to provide a safe, secure, and homely environment back at the centre.  The postholder reports to the Head of Facilities and is a member of the Facilities Team.

Key responsibilities 

·     To operate the day to day running of the Resource centre: setting up, cleaning, issuing, and checking the return of student equipment. This includes camping equipment, walking boots, waterproofs, PPE/technical climbing equipment and medical supplies.

·     Ensure that all equipment issued is fit for purpose 

·     To maintain the equipment listed above: this could include the use of a sewing machine, hand tools and some knowledge/understanding of the technical equipment being used (training is available).

·     The general upkeep of the stores area to a very high standard of safety and cleanliness.

·     To liaise with instructional and management teams to identify and source the best equipment and resources to enhance safety and our students experience.

·     Maintain safety standards, operating within The Outward Bound Trust policy, guidelines, and rules for Risk Management 

·      At all times present a professional image supporting the reputation of The Trust 

·      Work in such a way as to support The Trust’s commitment to environmental sustainability. 

Requirements

Some general maintenance skills and knowledge and some knowledge about the kinds of equipment we use.  EG climbing harnesses and helmets, Bouyancy Aids, tents, waking boots.

A full driving licence (desirable).

IT skills - Basic working knowledge of Word, Excel and SharePoint.
