JOB TITLE: IT Audit Portfolio Lead – Infrastructure, ITGC and Automation

SALARY: £86, 964 - £102,310

LOCATION(S): Edinburgh, Bristol, London

HOURS: Full-time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

About this opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Group Audit and Conduct Investigations (GA&CI) function and the Technology Risk audit team as a Portfolio Lead in IT Infrastructure, IT General Controls (ITGC) and Automation. This role provides the opportunity to shape as well as lead audits, harnessing a deep understanding of technology risks to provide high quality independent assurance on the effectiveness of controls.

Responsibilities (day to day tasks of the role) include:

  • Audit Planning: planning for a portfolio of audits, requesting/selecting resources and liaising with stakeholders to discuss and propose scope and timelines.

  • Audit Execution: managing delivery of a portfolio of audits, delivering audits on time and within budget, ensuring quality of audit file and coverage of agreed scope, ensuring compliance with audit methodology, and providing progress updates to the Head of Audit and Audit Directors.

  • Audit report preparation and agreement with stakeholders.

  • Oversee the follow-up and subsequent remediation of audit issues identified.

  • Coaching and supporting colleagues.

  • Providing SME insights and support.

  • Driving personal growth and continuous improvement.

What you’ll need

  • Proven experience in reviewing the security and resilience of IT infrastructure and supporting systems.

  • Strong knowledge and experience in ITGC reviews, including experience in auditing automated business controls.

  • Good knowledge and understanding of the security and resilience of data centres and operational requirements.

  • Good knowledge of private and public cloud technologies.

  • The ability, skills and experience to effectively manage senior stakeholder relationships, building credibility and trust – demonstrating strong communication, auditing skills and business understanding to effectively influence and negotiate with stakeholders.

  • Strong project management skills and a focus on delivery of the audit plan are critical and applicants should be self-starting and proactive in order to deliver the audit plan in line with expectations, with guidance, support and coaching provided from senior colleagues.

  • The ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams - collaboration skills are key to achieving the Group and function’s objectives. Applicants should be comfortable both leading and participating in teams, supporting team members and management to deliver on team and personal goals. Applicants should be used to giving and receiving feedback, coaching and being coached to deliver their best performance.

  • A drive for personal development is important with a mixture of training, coaching, feedback and on-the-job experience helping to develop and improve individual and team performance.

  • The ability to assess risks, identify key controls, and document appropriate test plans to deliver on audit objectives. Applicants should be able to effectively and efficiently identify control gaps, as well as draft and clear findings with senior stakeholders.

  • Experience of data analytics, the ability to utilise and analyse data to highlight control gaps and areas for improvement.

And any experience of these would be really useful

  • Experience in leading/conducting regulatory mandated ITGC reviews.

  • Knowledge of the latest data centre networks.

  •  Knowledge of software development and software engineering methods, practices and tools across the software development lifecycle.

  • Ability to develop innovative tools to support audit testing and continuous auditing.

  • Subject Matter Expert in Mainframe systems.

  • Good knowledge of Batch Management Systems and bulk file transfer technologies (e.g. Hyperchannel).
